How to Use the Facility Map

Learn how to use the interactive facility map to visualize unit availability, manage status, and quickly assist walk-in customers.

Overview

The Facility Map is a visual tool that displays your storage units in an interactive layout. It provides an at-a-glance view of unit availability, occupancy status, and facility organization—making it easier to manage your inventory and assist walk-in customers quickly.

Prerequisites

• Facility created with units added

• At least some units configured in the system

Accessing the Facility Map

  1. Log in to Stortech

  2. 2. Select your facility (if you have multiple)

  3. 3. Click "Map" in the left sidebar (under Operations)

Unit Status Colors

The map uses color-coding to instantly show unit availability:

Green - Available

• Unit is ready to rent

• No current booking

• Click to create a new booking or view unit details

Red - Occupied

• Unit currently rented

• Active booking in progress

• Click to view current booking details and customer information

Yellow - Waiting List

• Unit type has interested customers on waiting list

• Consider for waiting list fulfillment

• Click to view waiting list details

Gray - Unavailable

• Unit is offline/out of service

• Under maintenance or repair

• Click to view details or change status when ready

Interacting with the Map

Viewing Unit Details:

Click any unit box to view complete information, current booking, specifications, and rental history.

Creating a Booking from Map:

  1. Click a green (Available) unit

  2. 2. Click "Create Booking" button

  3. 3. Fill in customer and payment details

  4. 4. Submit booking

Changing Unit Status:

  1. Click the unit on the map

  2. 2. Click "Edit Unit" or status dropdown

  3. 3. Change status to desired state

  4. 4. Add note if needed

  5. 5. Save

Map Views and Filters

Filter by status: Available only, Occupied only, Waiting list, Unavailable

Filter by unit type: Small, Medium, Large, Climate-controlled, Ground floor

Search bar: Type unit number to locate quickly

Map Editor Mode

Access Editor Mode:

  1. Navigate to Map in sidebar

  2. 2. Click "Modifier" (Edit) button in top right

  3. 3. Drag units from palette onto canvas

  4. 4. Arrange to match physical facility layout

  5. 5. Click "Sauvegarder" (Save)

Tips for Editor:

• Match your physical facility layout

• Update when you add new units

• Keep units aligned in logical rows

• Save frequently when making changes

Daily Operations

Morning Routine:

  1. Open Map page

  2. 2. Scan for unexpected status changes

  3. 3. Review occupied units for upcoming expirations

  4. 4. Check waiting list units for follow-ups

Walk-In Customer Scenario:

  1. Open Map page

  2. 2. Filter: Available + desired unit type

  3. 3. Click preferred unit

  4. 4. Click "Create Booking"

  5. 5. Complete booking with customer

Common Questions

Q: Does the map update in real-time?

A: Yes! When a booking is created or status changes, the map refreshes within seconds.

Q: Can customers see the facility map?

A: Not currently. The map is an internal tool for facility staff only.

Q: Why are some units not appearing?

A: Ensure units have been created in the system (Units page → Add Units).
