The billing cycle determines when invoices are generated for your customers. Stortech supports different billing methods to match your facility's operations.
Accessing Billing Cycle Settings
From your facility dashboard, click "Paramètres" (Settings) in the left sidebar. Click the "Cycle de facturation" tab (should be selected by default).
Billing Cycle Options
First of Month (Premier du mois)
All customers are billed on the 1st of each month. Invoices are generated on the 1st of every month, all customers receive invoices on the same day, and the first month is pro-rated for mid-month move-ins.
Example: A customer moves in on January 15. Their first invoice is pro-rated for Jan 15-31 (about half month). Their second invoice is the full month starting February 1. All future invoices are on the 1st of each month.
Best for: Simplified accounting (all billing on same day), easier cash flow prediction, and traditional storage facility operations.
Anniversary Billing
Each customer is billed on the anniversary of their move-in date. The invoice date matches the move-in date, so a customer who moved in on the 15th is billed on the 15th each month. No pro-rating is needed.
Example: A customer moves in on January 15. Their first invoice is January 15 (full month). Their second invoice is February 15 (full month). All future invoices are on the 15th of each month.
Best for: Avoiding pro-rated calculations, spreading billing throughout the month, and smaller facilities with varied move-in dates.
Changing the Billing Cycle
Step 1: Click the "Méthode de cycle de facturation" dropdown and choose your preferred option.
Step 2: Click "Mettre à jour le cycle" (Update cycle). A confirmation message will appear.
Important Considerations
Before changing, consider that existing customers may be affected by the change. Also think about your accounting and bookkeeping workflow. If changing billing methods, notify customers of billing date changes.
Pro-Rating Explained
When using First of Month billing with mid-month move-ins, the calculation is: Daily Rate equals Monthly Rent divided by Days in Month. Pro-rated Amount equals Daily Rate multiplied by Days Remaining.
Example: Monthly rent is $100. Move-in is January 15. Days remaining is 17 (Jan 15-31). Pro-rated amount is ($100 divided by 31) times 17, which equals $54.84.

Can I have different billing cycles for different customers? No, the billing cycle is a facility-wide setting. All customers at a facility use the same cycle.
What happens to existing customers when I change the billing cycle? Typically, existing customers maintain their current billing date. Check with support for specific migration details.
Which billing cycle is more common? First of Month is most common in the storage industry due to simplified accounting.
Can I bill weekly or quarterly instead of monthly? Currently, Stortech supports monthly billing only. Contact support for custom billing needs.
