Configure promo codes your customers can apply at checkout, or that you apply yourself to a rental, to discount rent for a defined period. Three duration types are possible: one-time, permanent, or repeating across a number of months.
Common questions
How do I create a 20% promo code for a back-to-school promotion? Click Create a promotion, give it a name and a code (for example
BACKTOSCHOOL2026), pick Percentage as the type with the value 20, and choose the duration (One-time, Permanent, or Repeating).What's the difference between One-time, Permanent, and Repeating? One-time applies only to the first invoice. Permanent applies to all invoices as long as the rental is active. Repeating applies for a specific number of months, then drops off.
Why doesn't a customer's promo code work at checkout? Check that the promotion is active, that the code is typed correctly (typically case-insensitive), and that it hasn't been deactivated.
What happens to an active promotion if the customer changes units? The remaining months of the promotion are transferred to the new rental. If the duration was already exhausted, the promotion no longer applies.
Does the discount apply before or after taxes? Before. The discount reduces the taxable subtotal, and taxes are calculated on the net amount.
Who this article is for

the internal name (visible to your team only);
the promo code the customer will type at checkout (for example
BACKTOSCHOOL2026);the discount type: percentage or fixed amount;
the discount value;
the duration: one-time, permanent, or repeating for N months.

- Promotion name (required), for example
Back-to-school special. - Promo code (required), for exampleBACKTOSCHOOL2026. This is what the customer will type. - Discount type: choose Percentage (default) or Fixed amount. - Percentage or Amount depending on the type, for a percentage, enter a value between 1 and 100. - Duration: choose One-time, Permanent, or Repeating (number of months).Click Create the promotion, or Cancel to exit.
Edit a promotion

What happens automatically
On creation
The promo code is immediately valid at checkout and on manual rental creation.
No email is sent automatically to customers. You need to promote the promotion through your own channels (social media, newsletter, website).
When applied to a rental
For a One-time promotion: the discount applies to the first invoice only, then drops off.
For a Permanent promotion: the discount applies to all invoices as long as the rental is active.
For a Repeating (N months) promotion: the discount applies for N consecutive invoices, then drops off at month N+1.
The discount is applied before taxes in the invoice calculation.
On a unit change
If a customer is transferred to another unit type with an active promotion, the remaining months of the promotion are transferred to the new rental. See the Change unit (swap or transfer) article.

Common issues
Situation | What to check | What to do |
The customer says their promo code didn't work at checkout. Why? | Is the promotion active? Is the code typed correctly? | Check the status and reactivate the promotion if needed. If it was deactivated intentionally, explain to the customer that the code is no longer valid. |
The customer applied a promo code, but the invoice shows full price. Why? | What's the promotion's duration? | A One-time promotion only applies to the first invoice. From the second one on, the customer pays full price. That's expected. |
After a unit change, the promotion seems to have disappeared. Why? | How many months were left on the promotion at transfer time? | The remaining months are transferred. If the customer had already exhausted the duration, the promotion no longer applies to the new rental. |
The applied percentage seems wrong (for example 0%). What now? | Is the percentage value actually between 1 and 100 in the configuration? | Edit the promotion to fix the value. New applications will use the corrected value. |
