The Payments by method report breaks down the payments you received over a given period by the payment method used: credit card, pre-authorized debit (PAD), Interac, cash, cheque, bank transfer, and offline payments. For each method, it shows how many payments were received, the gross amount, refunds, Stripe fees, and the net you're left with once those fees are deducted. Useful for seeing how money actually comes in, what each method costs you, and comparing the true net of a card versus PAD or cash.
Where to find the report
Step 1.
From the left menu, open Analytics, then Reports.
Step 2.
Under the Payments category, click Payments by method.
The reports list, under the Payments category.
What the report contains
Each row corresponds to a payment method:
Method — the payment method recorded on the transaction. Unrecognized values are grouped under Other.
Payments — the number of successful payments for that method (refunds aren't counted here).
Gross — the total amount of successful payments.
Refunds — the amount refunded to customers (shown as negative).
Fees — Stripe processing fees on the payments (shown as negative). They only apply to payments processed through Stripe.
Net — gross minus refunds minus fees: what you actually keep for that method.
Share — the percentage of total gross attributable to that method.
A totals row at the bottom of the table adds up all methods (number of methods, payments, gross, fees, and net).

Choosing the period and sort order
Step 1.
By default, the report shows the current year. Click Configure to change the period: Monthly, Quarterly, Semi-annual, Annual, or a custom range.
Step 2.
In the same window, under Sort by, choose the row order: Net (highest first), Gross (highest first), Payments (most first), or Method (A → Z).
Export or print
Download CSV exports the table (method, payments, gross, refunds, fees, net, share) for Excel or your accounting software.
Print generates a paper or PDF version of the report.
How to read "Net" and fees
The Net is gross minus refunds minus Stripe fees: Net = Gross − Refunds − Fees. Gross counts successful payments; refunds and fees are then subtracted.
Fees only apply to payments processed through Stripe (credit card, pre-authorized debit). Offline payments (cash, cheque, manually entered transfer) carry no Stripe fee — their net equals gross minus refunds.
What's counted
Only successful payment and refund transactions are counted. Security deposits, owner payouts, and applied credits are excluded, so the picture reflects money that actually came in and its cost. To track security deposits separately, see Report: Security deposits by method, in the same category.
About payment methods
Credit card and Pre-authorized debit (PAD) go through Stripe. Offline (manual) groups hand-entered payments (cash, cheque, transfer outside Stripe). Any unrecognized method falls under Other. A method with no activity for the period doesn't appear in the table.
