Choose the emails you receive

Turn the notices Stortech emails you on or off, without affecting the emails sent to your customers.

Written by Etienne Champagne

Stortech emails you a notice when something happens at your facility: a new rental, a declined payment, a gate access that got cut off. If some of those notices aren't useful to you, you can switch them off one by one.

Who this article is for

You need the Owner or Manager role. With the Staff role the Notifications tab doesn't appear in settings: ask an owner or a manager to make the change.

Switch off a notice

Step 1.
Open Facility Settings, then, in the left-hand menu, the Communication group and the Notifications tab.

Step 2.
Scroll down to the Emails you receive section. It sits below the list of emails meant for your customers.

Step 3.
The notices are grouped by theme: Access, Bookings, Billing, Operations and Reports. Click a group name to open it. Only the Access group is open to begin with.

Step 4.
Flip the switch for the notice you no longer want. The change saves right away: there is no button to click to save.

Every notice is on to begin with.

What the setting changes, and what it doesn't

The choice applies to everyone on the facility's team. This is not a personal setting: if you switch a notice off, nobody on that facility's team receives it anymore.

The setting covers one facility at a time. If you run several, make the choice again in each one.

Your customers are not affected. The emails sent to your tenants (confirmations, receipts, reminders) always go out. They live in the top section, Emails your customers receive, where you can customize their content but not turn them off.

What you will always be sent

A few emails aren't on the list and can't be switched off, because they touch the security or the money of your own account:

Account security — account creation, password reset, and the confirmation that a password was changed. That last one matters most precisely when you weren't expecting it.

Team invitations — the email someone receives when you invite them.

Your Stortech billing — notices about your payment setup and changes to your own subscription.

Common issues

I switched a notice off but I'm still getting a similar one.

Check: the facility. The setting applies per facility, so the same notice can still be on elsewhere.

Also check: it may not be the same email. "Payment failed" is the notice meant for you; the message sent to your customer still goes out.

I can't find the Notifications tab.

To do: your role is probably Staff. Ask an owner or a manager to change the setting.

I'm not getting any notices, even the ones that are on.

Check: the address that receives your notices is the one on your Stortech profile, not the facility's. See Where operator notification emails go.

Common questions

Do my customers see this change? No. This setting only affects the emails that land in your own inbox.

Can I switch a notice off just for me, without changing my colleagues'? Not for now. The choice applies to the whole facility team.

Can I turn a notice back on later? Yes. Flip the switch back, and the notice resumes right away.

What about SMS notifications? Those are set separately. See Choose which notifications send by SMS.
