Inspection is the required step between a scheduled move-out and the actual release of a unit. It lets you confirm the physical state of the unit after a customer leaves: whether it's ready to rent again immediately, or whether it needs cleaning or repairs. Until the inspection is done, the unit stays locked in Stortech even if the customer has physically left.
Common questions
How do I start the inspection of a unit after a customer leaves? On their rental record, open the Summary tab and click Start inspection in the Inspection card. The inspection dialog opens.
What's the difference between Ready to rent and Needs cleaning/repair? Ready to rent makes the unit immediately available for the next rental. Needs cleaning/repair marks it unavailable until you restore it manually.
Why doesn't the Inspection card appear on a rental record? Either the move-out isn't scheduled yet, or the inspection is already complete. The card only appears in the intermediate window between the two.
How do I add photos to an inspection? In the dialog, click Attach photos. The photos are stored on the rental record, in the Documents tab.
Does the inspection automatically settle the deposit? No. Deposit settlement is a separate step. See the Deposit settlement article.
