The map is the visual representation of your facility: each unit appears as a rectangle on the floor plan, with a color indicating its status (available, occupied, in maintenance). It serves two purposes: a View mode for the daily glance, and an Editor mode to place or reposition units on the plan.
Common questions
How do I see the status of all my units at a glance? Open the Map section from the menu. The floor plan shows every placed unit, with a color per status. Occupied, available, and in-maintenance units are visually distinct.
A unit exists in the Units list but doesn't appear on the plan. Why? It hasn't been placed on the map yet. Switch to Editor mode and drag-and-drop the unit onto the plan from the list of unplaced units.
How do I move a unit on the plan? In Editor mode, click the unit and drag it to its new position. You can also rotate it via the controls that appear on hover.
How do I add a second floor to my map? In Editor mode, use the floor picker to add a new floor and place units on it.
How do I quickly locate unit 308 on the plan? Use the Search a unit... field in the map header. The map zooms to the found unit automatically.
If I move a unit on the plan, does that change its number or status? No. The map only reflects the visual position. The number, type, and status of the unit are managed from the Units list.
Why does the plan load slowly? A facility with many units can be slow to render. Adjust zoom or report to support if recurring.
Who this article is for
Viewing the map (View mode) is available to all roles. Editing the plan (Editor mode) requires the Owner or Manager role.
Before using the map
The facility must have at least one unit type and units created. See the Units article.
View mode
Open the Map section from the main menu.
The page loads in View mode by default.
The plan shows every placed unit on the active floor:
- each unit is a rectangle with its number; - the color indicates the status (available, occupied, in maintenance); - aisles and non-rentable areas are represented.
Navigation tools
Zoom in, Zoom out to adjust the level of detail.
Fit to screen to recenter.
Floor picker (Floor 1, Floor 2, etc.) for multi-floor facilities.
Search a unit... to locate a unit by number.
Click a unit
A click on a unit opens its detailed record: number, type, current tenant, status. Actions on the unit (edit status, see history) are done from this record, not directly on the plan.
Editor mode
Click the Editor tab at the top of the page.
The plan becomes editable:
- Move a unit by drag-and-drop. - Rotate a unit via the control that appears on hover. - Add a new unit to the plan by dropping it from the list of unplaced units. - Remove a unit from the plan (the unit stays in Stortech; only its visual position is erased).
For multiple floors, switch between floors and add more as needed.
Changes are saved automatically or via a Save button, depending on the configuration.
What happens automatically
A unit's status on the map is computed from the Units list data and active bookings.
An unplaced unit still exists in Stortech: it appears in the Units list but not on the plan.
Changing a unit's position on the plan doesn't change its number, type, or status.
Plan changes aren't synced with the storefront in real time: the storefront shows availability by type, not physical position.
