Ask for the customer's address at checkout

Choose whether online booking asks for the customer's address, and whether it's optional or required.

Written by Etienne Champagne

You can choose, for each storefront, whether the online booking flow asks the customer for their mailing address. Three modes are available: don't ask, ask without requiring, or require it before continuing. By default, the setting is off (no change for your customers until you turn it on).

Who this article is for

This article is for the facility's owner or manager, from a storefront's settings.

Before turning this setting on

Decide whether the address should be requested for this particular storefront: the setting doesn't automatically apply to the facility's other storefronts.

Know the difference between the three available modes (see below) before choosing Required.

Configuring Address at checkout

Step 1.
Go to Settings, then the storefront in question.

Step 2.
Find the Address at checkout section.

Step 4.
Click Save.

Choosing a mode

Don't ask

The address field doesn't appear at booking at all. This is the default behavior.

Optional

The field appears, with automatic address suggestions. The customer can leave it blank without it blocking their sign-up.

Required

The street, city, province/state, and postal code fields must all be filled in (apartment remains optional). Sign-up is blocked while any of these fields is empty.

What happens automatically

As the customer types their address, suggestions appear automatically. Once a suggestion is chosen, the customer sees and can individually correct each field: street, apartment (optional), city, province, and postal code — nothing is filled in silently.

An optional apartment number can be added separately from the address field.

The address is saved with the new customer's record.

An existing customer who skips the sign-up step (because they already have an account) doesn't see this field.

Common questions

Is this setting on by default? No. By default, the address isn't requested; you have to choose to turn it on.

Can the customer finish their booking if the field is empty? In Optional mode, yes. In Required mode, sign-up is blocked until the address is filled in.

Does this affect customers who already have an account? No, an existing customer who skips the sign-up step isn't prompted for their address.

Can I turn this on for just one storefront? Yes, it applies per storefront, not for the whole facility.

What happens if address suggestions don't appear? The field stays usable; the customer can simply type their address by hand.

Can the customer edit the city or postal code suggested by autocomplete? Yes, once a suggestion is chosen, each field (street, apartment, city, province, postal code) remains individually editable.
