Backdate a move-in date

When a customer already moved in before the rental was created in Stortech, enter their actual move-in date instead of today's date.

Written by Etienne Champagne

When you create a manual rental, the Move-in Date field now accepts a recent date in the past, not just today or a future date. This is useful when a customer has already moved in before you have time to create their rental in Stortech.

Where it's found

In the Create manual rental form, Move-in Date section: "Choose the tenant's actual move-in date. Recent past dates are allowed within the current billing period."

How it works

If you choose a date in the past but still within the current billing period:

a message confirms: "Backdated booking: within the current billing period, the subscription starts on this date and the total shown is what's owed as of today."

billing starts on the actual move-in date chosen, not the date the rental was created;

the total shown when creating the rental reflects what's owed from that date until today (rent, one-time fees, and applicable deposit);

subsequent invoices then follow your facility's regular billing cycle.

Backdated rental within the current billing period

This option is available no matter which payment method is chosen for the manual rental: credit card, pre-authorized debit (ACSS/PAD), or offline payment.

Limit

You can't go back further than the current billing period. If the chosen date is too old, the form shows: "This date is outside the current billing period and can no longer be backdated. Choose a more recent date." and you'll need to choose a date closer to today.

Error: date outside the current billing period
