Tasks is your to-do list at the facility: reminders, lead follow-ups, inspections, maintenance. Stortech creates some tasks automatically (for example an inspection at the end of a rental) and you can add them manually at any time.

Common questions

  • How do I create a new task? In the Tasks section, click New task, enter a title, adjust the priority, category, and due date, then click Create the task.

  • Why does an inspection task appear automatically after a move-out? Stortech automatically creates a Unit inspection when a rental ends. See the Unit inspection article.

  • How do I mark a task complete? Open the task record and click Complete (or the checkbox in the list). Completed tasks disappear from the default view.

  • Which task categories are available? Common categories are General, Lead follow-up, Unit inspection, and Maintenance. The category is clickable from the creation dialog to change it.

  • How do I link a task to a specific unit? In the New task dialog, click Unit and pick the unit. The task will then also appear on the unit record.

  • Why doesn't a team member show up as assignable? The member isn't Active in the team (perhaps still Invited). See the Team and roles article.

  • Does Stortech email the member assigned to a task? Depending on configuration. No automatic email is sent by default on assignment.

Who this article is for

Viewing tasks is available to all roles. Creating, editing, and completing tasks typically requires the Owner, Manager, or Employee role based on the permission configuration.

Before managing tasks

  • To assign a task to a member, that member must be Active in the Team section.

View the list

  1. Open the Tasks section from the main menu.

  2. The Tasks page lists all the facility's active tasks, sorted by due date.

  3. For each task, the list shows:

    - the title; - the category (General, Lead follow-up, Unit inspection, Maintenance); - the due date; - the assignee (member initial or name of the linked contact).

Create a new task

  1. Click New task at the top right.

  2. The New task dialog opens:

    - Task title (required). - Medium, priority button; click to toggle between Low, Medium, High. - General, category button; click to change. - Due date, date picker. - Unit, link the task to a specific unit (optional).

  3. Click Create the task.

Open and edit a task

  1. Click a task in the list to open its record.

  2. Edit the fields (title, priority, category, date, assignee, notes).

  3. Check Complete when the work is done.

  4. Completed tasks disappear from the default view.

What happens automatically

Tasks created by the system

  • Unit inspection, created automatically after a move-out is scheduled. See the Schedule a move-out article.

  • Other categories may be created automatically based on enabled flows (lease signing reminder, failed payment follow-up).

On manual creation

  • The task appears in the list with Active status.

  • No email is sent automatically to the assigned member (by default).

  • The task history is tracked in its Activity tab.

On completion

  • The task disappears from the default view.

  • For a completed Unit inspection, the unit status is updated based on the inspection result. See the Unit inspection article.

Does the booking's Activity tab show the creation?

If the inspection is required, create the task manually. If the issue recurs, contact support.

A task stays in the list after being marked complete. What now?

Refresh the page.

If still active after refresh, contact support.

A team member doesn't show up as assignable. Why?

Is the member Active in the team?

Confirm their status in Settings > Team. See the Team and roles article.

A lot of tasks pile up. What now?

That's normal for an active facility.

Filter by category or due date to prioritize. Complete or archive obsolete tasks.
