Sync with QuickBooks (or export)

Connect QuickBooks Online to automatically push Stortech invoices, or export your data via Stripe for another accounting software.

Written by Etienne Champagne

Stortech integrates directly with QuickBooks Online. Once connected, every invoice issued in Stortech is automatically pushed to your QuickBooks account — no manual entry needed. If you use a different accounting software, you can export your financial data from your Stripe dashboard.

Connecting QuickBooks Online

Step 1.
From the left menu, go to Settings then click the Integrations tab.

Step 2.
On the QuickBooks Online card (it shows Not connected), click Set up.

Step 3.
A window opens with two tabs, Mappings and Sync status. Click Connect.

Connecting QuickBooks Online

Step 4.
You're redirected to an Intuit authentication window. Log in to your QuickBooks Online account and authorize access.

Step 5.
Back in Stortech, the Mappings tab fills in: configure the account mappings by matching each Stortech category (rent, admin fee, late fee, deposit, etc.) to an item or account in QuickBooks, then save.

Step 6.
The integration is active — future invoices will sync automatically. The QuickBooks card now shows the connected company, with a "..." menu to reconnect later if needed.

Account mappings

During setup, you map each Stortech line type to a QuickBooks item:

Stortech category

Example QuickBooks account

Rental fee (rental_fee)

Rental income

Admin fee (admin_fee)

Other income

Late fee (late_fee)

Late penalties

Security deposit (deposit)

Current liability (deposits held)

Insurance (insurance)

Insurance income

Exporting to other software (Xero, Sage, etc.) via Stripe

Stripe, which processes all Stortech payments, offers robust export tools directly from its dashboard:

Step 1.
Log in to your Stripe dashboard (dashboard.stripe.com).

Step 2.
Go to Billing → Invoices to see all your invoices. Use the Export button to download as CSV.

Step 3.
Go to Reports for more detailed financial statements: payment summaries, tax reports, reconciliation.

Step 4.
Import the CSV into your software following its instructions (Xero: Bank accounts → Import; Sage: Transactions → Import).

Common issues

The Connect button doesn't respond. Allow pop-ups for app.stortech.io in your browser.

An invoice didn't show up in QuickBooks. Check that all account mappings are configured in Settings → Integrations. A missing mapping blocks the sync.

I want to reconnect a different QuickBooks account. In the QuickBooks card, open the "..." menu and select Reconnect.

Common questions

Where do I connect QuickBooks? In Settings → Integrations.

What data is synced? Stortech invoices and credit notes, with amounts, taxes, and the associated customer.

Is the sync automatic? Yes. As soon as an invoice is issued in Stortech, it's sent to QuickBooks with no action required.

I use Xero or other software — how do I export my data? Go through Stripe (see the section above). Stripe generates complete reports on your payments and invoices.
